Can you self diagnose Dyscalculia?

Dyscalculia: News from the web:

Well…… yes and no. Yes because you can do all the screeners you can find on the web and find the warning signs for various ages and grades and see of those apply and that will give you a good idea if you have the math learning disability. There are two issues with that though:

You can have other issues that look like dyscalculia but actually have more to do with focus problems, executive function problems or short term memory issues.

The other issue is that if you would like to qualify for accommodations from schools or testing institutions, they most likely want to see a supervised assessment done by a professional with nationwide validated tests forming the basics of the diagnosis.

So yes good to be aware of the warning sign but see it as the first step towards getting a professional diagnosis and the help you deserve.
