In our link for today a wonderful article that explores why many children do not like math. One of the better quotes:

One child wrote “Maths is like chocolate cake” which at first glance appears to be most positiveuntil you read further as to why she felt this way. She went on to say, “Maths is like chocolate cake –because if you have too much you will get sick!”.

The thing with Teaching a kid with Dyscalculia

Most important passage in my view:

You see the problem with dyscalculia, is that it is not impossible to teach math to people who suffer from this disorder.  You just have to be creative, even if that means providing creative and abstract solutions at times.  I have taught my wife quite a bit simply by using unorthodox approaches to math.
