I have dyscalculia,

How very peculiar –

I just read a six as a nine!

But it’s not dyslexia,

I had hyperlexia –

As a child my word-power shined.

 

Maths, is a strange language,

That I’ll never vanquish,

The calculator is my friend!

I lack skills with numbers

A problem that encumbers

My bank balance when I spend…

Sometimes you get the impression that school officials have to pay the assessments out of their own pocket or that they work only to minimize the detection of learning disabilities. Why is that?
