New Dyscalculia research

It is not every day that we find new dyscalculia research but now there is a new project starting.

This one-year study aims to answer two questions: 1) Do children with developmental dyscalculia have an order processing deficit? 2) What is the extent of this deficit? Is it specific to order working memory or number ordering skills, or is there evidence for a more general order processing deficit in developmental dyscalculia?

Working Memory issues compared for learning disabilities

Research done at Vanderbilt University showed that compared to typically developing children, all learning difficulty groups demonstrated deficits in verbal Working Memory and numerical Working Memory, with Reading Disabled and Math Disabled children showing the most severe Working Memory deficits. Math Disabled children and Reading Disabled children showed comparable verbal Working memory deficits, but Math Disabled children showed more severe numerical Working Memory deficits than Reading Disabled children.

The difference between kids with AFD or GD while having DD

Nice alphabet soup there in the title but this is about some research done with children who all have Developmental Dyscalculia (DD) but one group suffers from Arithmetic Fact Dyscalculia (AFD) and the other group has General Dyscalculia (GD).

The point the researchers make is that depending on which origin your DD has different re-mediation maybe indicated.
