Today a link to a site with a forum and some people exchanging messages on how math has made their life miserable but they also talk about not having been screened for dyscalculia yet. Here you have it, if you don’t take care of identifying the problem and getting screened or tested it is hard to get resources and help to cope with the math issues. Do not delay, do not make it a new year’s intention but do it NOW.

New Dyscalculia research

It is always wonderful when new research is done into Dyscalculia. Supported by a federal grant from the ministry of education, we have a new study available this week. Spoiler alert, here is the conclusion (but please take time to read the whole article):

We conclude that dyscalculic children show large individual differences in brain activation patterns. Nonetheless, the majority of dyscalculic children can be differentiated from controls employing brain activation patterns when appropriate methods are used.
