New research shows that people who are not good at math but think they are, stick to difficult tasks more than people who are not good at math and also believe they are not good at math. So I guess in order to encourage your child to stick with the math tasks, feed their perception that they are not bad at math and they will build up the confidence to stick with a difficult problem.

We found a free app that will teach children to count the numbers from 1 to 10. Most interventions are helpful to get the attention and give the children the feeling that math can be fun and is everywhere around us. A positive attitude will go a long way to help difficulties with math. To re-mediate a dyscalculia condition more testing and analysis will have to be done with specific interventions but for now, just enjoy the little free app.

Researchers at Benasich’s lab in Newark, N.J. study patterns in the brain waves of infants and toddlers. They try to come up with models that predict later academic success based on brain activity at a young age.
