Times Tables impossible to teach?

The Top Notch Teaching Website has a great idea with a times tables booklet.

You get the children involved in making it and they will carry it around and play with it and remember the numbers.  To get them to understand the background and basics you will still have to spend some time but this is a very nice activity.
